10,000 years ago...
"Back then, it was almost always warm. The weather was a little hotter than today – and dangerous animals like wolves and bears roamed Britain's forests.
So, as usual, I was looking for somewhere safe and cool to get a good night's sleep.
That's when I found it – a small, rocky opening hidden behind a withered old bush.
I
moved some
loose
boulders out of the way and
squeezed into the
crack. It wasn't easy, but
I was determined –
I can't
resist
a
bit of
adventure!"

"As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, my jaw hit the floor. I was expecting a pokey little cave, but instead I'd stumbled across a vast network of caverns, full of beautiful stalagmites and twisting passageways.
I couldn't wait to show my friends what I'd found. Here was an underground wonderland, where the floors are paved with fossils and the rocks are older than the dinosaurs!
But when they followed me into the cavern, they got scared and ran away.
"It's too dark," they
yelped. "Who
knows what
might be
lurking
down
there?""
A new adventure!
"As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, my jaw hit the floor. I was expecting a pokey little cave, but instead I'd stumbled across a vast network of caverns, full of beautiful stalagmites and twisting passageways.

Is adult supervision required?
Children aged eight and over can attend our family activities on their own, as long as an accompanying adult is on site. Children under eight years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

What if it's raining?
Not a problem. If you're looking for indoor activities for kids in Yorkshire, remember: Cavewoman's events are always guaranteed to be fun, educational and rain-free!
However, it's best to wear warm, waterproof clothes anyway, because the caverns can get quite cold and damp.

What if we can't make it?
No worries. Just get in touch and we'll happily change your booking to a different date.

Are Cavewoman's activities suitable for toddlers or older children?
Children of any age can attend (that includes you, parents!). However, Cavewoman's Fossil and Gem Discovery Dig is focused on Key Stage 2 topics, so is most suitable for children between the ages of seven and 11.
